Founder & Office Manager, International Care for Crisis
Coral Springs, Florida
My name is Denise Flowers, and I’m the Founder and Office Manager of International Care for Crisis, based in Coral Springs, Florida. I’ve spent over 30 years working in the medical field, and throughout my life, I’ve always felt a deep desire to help others especially during times of crisis. I’ve donated to organizations like the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross, but I often walked away with the feeling that it wasn’t enough. I wanted to do more. I wanted to be there.
That feeling that calling led me to create International Care for Crisis. This isn’t just a business to me; it’s my purpose. I’ve been through a lot in my own life. I’ve known what it’s like to be at the bottom. I’ve been hungry, homeless, scared and those experiences have shaped how I approach this work. I understand what it feels like to be in a place of complete uncertainty, and I carry that understanding into everything we do.
My goal with this organization is to bring transparency, accountability, and heart to humanitarian aid. Every donation, whether it's money or goods, can be tracked from the moment it leaves your hands to the moment it reaches the person or community it's meant for. I believe people should know exactly where their help is going and see the difference it makes.
One of my hopes is to have more helping hands traveling to the areas we serve like Poland or Ukraine to personally oversee deliveries and have the ability to see change. I believe this is where I’m meant to be, and I’m grateful to be on this journey. With the help of others who care, I know we can make a meaningful impact one donation, one shipment, one life at a time.
My name is Gia Leone, and I was born and raised in Southern California. I began my professional journey in the banking industry, starting at the ground level and working my way up through dedication and perseverance. Over the years, I’ve found my greatest fulfillment through service to others. I was honored to be named Volunteer of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America for two consecutive years and served on their Board of Directors for a decade. I also held a board position with the YWCA and ran the organization’s crisis hotline for eight years, providing support and resources to individuals in urgent need. Volunteering has been a lifelong passion of mine—one that began in my youth and has only grown stronger with time. Like many, I’ve faced personal hardships and seasons of uncertainty. But through it all, it was the kindness of others and the strength of my community that carried me forward. That experience has shaped who I am and why I strive every day to be that community for someone else.
